The Punkte in Flensburg System

The Fahreignungsregister (Driving Record Register) at the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) in Flensburg records traffic violations. For traffic offenses and crimes, 1 to 3 points are awarded per violation.

Point Scale and Consequences

Points per Violation — Examples

1 point (serious traffic offenses):
- Mobile phone use while driving (100 €)
- Speeding 21–30 km/h over limit in built-up area
- Red light violation (light under 1 second)

2 points (very serious offenses / crimes with driving ban):
- Speeding 31+ km/h over limit in built-up area
- Red light violation (light over 1 second)
- Driving under the influence 0.5–1.09 BAC
- Hit and run (minor damage)

3 points (crimes with license revocation):
- Driving under the influence 1.1+ BAC
- Driving without license
- Hit and run with personal injury

Point Reduction — Voluntary Course

With 1–5 points, you can attend a driving aptitude course once every 5 years and reduce points by 1 point. Cost: approximately 400–700 €. From 6 points onwards, voluntary reduction is no longer possible.

Point Expiration

Points are not deleted collectively; each entry has its own expiration period:
