Deutschlandticket — Nationwide Public Transport for €63

What is the Deutschlandticket?

The Deutschlandticket (formerly "49-Euro-Ticket") is a monthly subscription for the entire public local transport in Germany. Since January 2026, it costs €63 per month.

What's included?

Yes:
- All buses, trams, underground trains, S-Bahn trains
- All regional trains (RE, RB, IRE) — in 2nd class
- Nationwide — from Hamburg to Munich, from Cologne to Berlin

No:
- No ICE, IC or EC trains (long-distance travel)
- No 1st class
- No bike transport (unless locally permitted)
- No Flixbus or Flixtrain

Where to buy?

  • App: DB Navigator, HVV, MVV, BVG or other local transport apps
  • Online: deutschlandticket.de or bahn.de
  • Customer center: In person at your local transport association
  • It's a monthly subscription — cancellable by the end of the month (deadline: by the 10th of the month)

Who benefits?

The ticket is worthwhile if you use public transport regularly:
- Commuters: Already profitable from about 2 trips/day
- Occasional travelers: Weekend trips with regional trains across all of Germany
- Students: Check if your semester ticket is cheaper

Tips

  • Hamburg → Berlin by regional train: free with Deutschlandticket (approx. 4.5 hours)
  • Night buses and night lines are also included
  • In DB Navigator, select "local transport only" when searching for routes
  • The ticket is personal and non-transferable
